The City of Litchfield Park, 16 miles west of downtown Phoenix, is a planned residential community boasting a small-town atmosphere and casual lifestyle.
It was founded in 1916 when Goodyear Tire and Rubber bought farmland to grow Egyptian long-staple cotton to use in tire cords.
The historic 80-year old Wigwam Golf Resort is located in the heart of Litchfield Park. It boasts 331 rooms, conference facilities and three 18-hole golf courses.
In a January 2015 speech, Arizona’s governor Doug Ducey praised the nearby Luke Air Force Base, saying “The recent addition of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft makes the state more prepared than any other to help the military accomplish its mission.”
The city is also home to The Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium.
